Gravity FundRaisers
Gravity Fundraisers embark on another cycling journey, this time from Paris to Twickenham, with the goal of reaching HQ just in time for the Premiership Cup final on June 8th. Their mission is to raise over £50,000 for two significant causes close to the hearts of all involved.
The Matt Hampson Foundation, a leading facility for those with catastrophic sporting injuries, was set up after Matt suffered a catastrophic injury himself which left him paralysed from the neck down and breathing via the aid of a ventilator. Matt has ‘got busy living’ life as normal as possible whist giving inspiration and a vision to all of those in a similar position by offering the most up to date facilities around. It is our aim to help fund the foundation in the day to day running of the facility.
Ed Slater, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease just under two years ago, and immediately the charity Gloucester Rugby Foundation was officially formed adopting the 4Ed Campaign to secure funds for MND for Ed Slater and his family to help with the relentless fight against the cruelty of MND. Whether it is through support for families affected by MND or simply to raise awareness of MND, the work of the charity offers life changing support for families living with the physical, mental and social effects of of this terrible disease.
Drawing inspiration from Matt and Ed, plus some using their days at Leicester Tigers and rugby in general, the team of riders and support crew are determined to complete the challenging journey in just over two days. Notably, the majority of riders are over 60, making the endeavour a remarkable achievement as they gear up in lycra, oil the chains, and pump up the tyres once again.
