In August, my sister-in-law passed away, aged just 42, after living for 15 years with a brain tumour. Lizzi was diagnosed shortly after giving birth to her daughter. From that moment on, her life changed. She raised her daughter with her husband, Jim, whilst enduring four operations, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, gamma knife treatment and radiotherapy.
Lizzi was the bravest and kindest person we know. She never complained. She raised thousands of pounds for brain tumour charities, whilst battling the disease herself. All the time being a wife and mum, too.
My husband (Lizzi's older brother, Paul) wants to remember his sister by cycling over 1000 miles, from Land's End to John o'Groats, raising money for Brain Tumour Research and Saint Catherine's Hospice (Scarborough) along the way.
There are 6 of us going on the trip. Paul's Uncle David and cousins Jack and Harry will be cycling the whole route alongside him. I will be driving the back-up vehicle and fundraising at each stop with Paul's Auntie Carolyn.
We hope that we can add to Lizzi's legacy by raising as much as we can for both these charities.
A MASSIVE Thank You!
We've been searching for a way to thank you all for your amazing donations, which have taken us to the wonderful current total of £10,336.74! It isn't clear how to message you all individually on GiveWheel, but we wanted to say it publicly too anyway - THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. We are truly blown away by the support we've received both from family and friends AND from complete strangers along the journey. The GiveWheel fundraiser will end on November 1st, which will give us chance to add the money from earring sales - including a market stall coming up soon.
