Matilde’s fundraiser for children with brain injuries
Matilde’s fundraiser for children with brain injuries
Hello,
My name is Matilde; if you know me or my parents, you might already know that last year I was very sick because of an illness called ADEM - Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis.
Thankfully, I have been able to recover fully, also thanks to the amazing teams of doctors and nurses at both University Hospital Geneva (HUG - Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, www.hug.ch) and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH, www.gosh.org).
Remembering those challenging times last year, my family and I have now decided to set ourselves a goal: to climb England’s tallest mountain (Scafell Pike, in the Lake District, 978m) as well as one of its most scenic sister mountains, Helvellyn (950m).
By doing this we hope to raise money to donate to another great institution that helps children like me overcome the challenges of brain illnesses: The Children’s Trust for children with brain injuries (www.thechildrentrust.org.uk) delivers expert rehabilitation, education and community services to affected young people and their families.
We would love for you to help us raise these funds.
Wish us luck and hope that we make it to the top!
Thank you, Matilde
