Ten years ago, I held my daughter for the first and last time. She was just five days old when she passed away — a lifetime's worth of love and care packed into 120 hours. And in the decade since, I've learned that grief doesn't shrink. You just grow around it. You carry it differently. And eventually, you find ways to turn it into something that lights up the path for others. On 10th October 2026, during Baby Loss Awareness Week, I'll be walking 20 miles around Ullswater — one of the most beautiful lakes in the Lake District — to mark the 10-year anniversary of her life. And I'm inviting a group of people to walk with me.The CharitiesWe're raising money for two incredible causes:Shine a Light — Registered charity No. 1171090, supporting children and young people affected by cancer, providing counselling, play therapy, and vital support for families navigating the unimaginable. Since recently moving into their forever home, Shine a Light now need the support of our amazing community to transform the space into the welcoming, comforting centre that so many families will rely on. https://www.shinealight.uk/Freddie's Wish — Registered charity No. 1202601 with love at its heart, wanting to help those who have lost a baby or child of any age and offer support and care when needed. It costs £25 per person to be trained with the vital skills to be able to save their child's life should they need to. £50 funds a bereavement support or counselling session for a parent who has lost a baby or child, providing a vital lifeline for them. We help bereaved parents access fully funded bereavement support and counselling and also run regular parent and child first aid courses which are free to attend. https://freddieswish.org/The Challenge20 miles.
