🦄🩷For Seren. Forever our unicorn loving little girl 🩷🦄
In July 2025, our beautiful daughter, Seren, was just three years old when our world changed forever. She was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumour, beginning a journey no parent should ever have to face.
Seren spent six weeks in Southampton Hospital, where she underwent an incredible 12-hour operation to remove her tumour. She spent time in PICU, ventilated with a collapsed lung, and then had to learn to eat, drink, talk and walk again.
We then travelled to London for proton beam therapy at UCLH, where Seren became the 1,000th NHS patient to receive this life-changing treatment. She underwent 33 sessions over seven weeks, requiring a general anaesthetic every day. Through it all, she showed extraordinary courage, resilience and the biggest, brightest smile.
Sadly, in May 2026, a routine scan showed that Seren's tumour had returned aggressively. There were no further treatment options available.
Seren spent her final weeks at Julia's House Children's Hospice, surrounded by her family and so much love. On 22 July 2026, our beautiful girl passed away peacefully, aged just four.
We are completely heartbroken, but we want Seren's life to continue to make a difference.
Seren was so much more than her diagnosis. She was funny, charismatic, sociable and full of life. She adored her little sister Cerys, Disney princesses, unicorns, singing, crafting, the theatre and the beach. She had the biggest, brightest smile and an incredible ability to make everyone around her smile too.
A phrase our consultant oncologist said to us has stayed with us:
“A life's worth isn't measured in its length, but in lives touched and light left behind.”
Through Stars for Seren, we are raising money for three charities that supported our family and continue to make a difference to others: Meredith's Mission, Julia's House and Brain Tumour Research.
I am now taking on the London Royal Parks Half Marathon as one of their Inspirational Runners, running in Seren's memory and carrying her story with me every step of the way.
We can't change Seren's story. But together, we can help change the future for other children and families.
Whether you donate, take on a challenge, organise an event or simply share Seren's story, thank you for helping us keep her light shining.
💛 Meredith's Mission – supporting children with cancer and their families through treatment and beyond in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
💜 Julia's House – providing exceptional hospice care for children and helping families create precious memories together in Dorset.
🧠 Brain Tumour Research – funding vital research into better treatments and, one day, a cure for all brain tumours.
