Aon FI Charity Cricket Day @ Rettendon Cricket Club - On behalf of the F&PS Charity Committee

For 2026, F&PS have agreed to support Havens Hospices and the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). Both of these charities are very close to our hearts. Details of each charity are outlined below.

Havens Hospices(Local charity based in Southend-on-Sea – Homepage - Havens Hospices)


Who they support:
• Adults with life-limiting illnesses (through Fair Havens hospice)
• Children and young people with complex or incurable conditions (through Little Havens hospice)
• Families and carers, providing emotional, practical and bereavement support


Key services:
• Inpatient hospice care – short stays and end-of-life care in a comfortable setting
• Day care and outpatient support – therapies, activities and medical support
• Care at home – enabling people to remain in familiar surroundings
• Emotional and psychological support – for both patients and families
• Bereavement services – ongoing support after loss


Funding:
Havens Hospices relies heavily on charitable income:
• Public donations and fundraising events – c.64%
• Charity shops, lottery income, grants etc. – c.22%
• Government / NHS funding – only around 14%

Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA)
(MND Association | Fighting motor neurone disease)


Who they support:
The MND Association is a UK charity dedicated to supporting people affected by Motor Neurone Disease, a progressive and life-limiting neurological condition that affects the brain and nerves controlling movement.


What they do:
• Support for patients and families – practical, emotional and financial support for people living with MND and their carers
• Research funding – investing in research to improve understanding, treatment and, ultimately, to find a cure
• Advocacy and awareness – campaigning to improve care, raise awareness and influence policy and healthcare services


Funding:
• Primarily funded through public donations, fundraising and partnerships
• Additional support from grants and trusts
• Not fully funded by the NHS or government
