Philip Pulleyn's family are fundraising for MND Charities

Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is a rapidly progressive and life
shortening condition that affects the motor neurons of the nervous system. At
present there is no cure. Management is therefore based around controlling
symptoms and maintaining quality of life. Devastatingly, Philip was diagnosed
with this rare and cruel disease last Autumn.

Philip’s family are proud to offer their support and are
raising money for two charities to help fight MND. Rugby has a been such a big
part of Philip’s life having played openside flanker for York Rugby Club 1st
XV throughout the 70’s, The York Unicorns in the 80's and fanatically supporting York, England and
The Lions once the boots were hung up. We will be supporting two amazing
charities with links to Philip and Rugby; The Rob Burrow Centre for MND (Leeds
Hospitals Charity) and My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

Philip has started receiving the best possible care at The
Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease near Leeds, which opened in
November 2025. This dream was made reality thanks to the fundraising led by
Leeds Hospitals Charity and supported by Kevin Sinfield, his 7in7 Ultra team
and the wider Leeds Rhinos and Leeds communities. This landmark building is the
first purpose-built centre dedicated entirely to MND care, research, education
and holistic support.

Another legendary openside flanker, Lewis Moody, who was
also sadly diagnosed with MND at a similar time to Philip, is leading a
500-mile cycle challenge from Newcastle to Twickenham for My Name’5 Doddie
Foundation in June. It is very timely that Lewis’s first stop is in Ripon on
June 14th, so we plan to donate to Lewis’s campaign through the My
Name’5 Doddie Foundation and hopefully Philip and Lewis can meet on the day.

Both charities work is vital in supporting individuals and
families affected by this condition, providing essential care, resources and
funding critical research. Every donation will help make a meaningful
difference to people with MND and their families.

Thank you so much for any support you can give. Hopefully
one day a cure will be found.
