Paolo and Carlo's first 3000m in aid of Engera

Hi, we are Paolo and Carlo, two brothers 10 and 9 years old — we LOVE hiking and climbing in the mountains,

reaching the top and looking out at everything afar! 🏔️


Two years ago, our big sister did an amazing charity challenge climbing Scafell Pike — the highest peak in England — and nearby Helvellyn. She had recovered from a serious illness and wanted to help other children with similar conditions. We were all so proud of her and it was fantastic joining her for that challenge together with the rest of our family.

That experience gave us a big idea: if she could do something like that, maybe we could too!
So this year, we are taking on our biggest challenge EVER. We are going to climb Monte Emilius, a mighty mountain in the Aosta Valley in northern Italy, standing at 3,559 metres high: that’s nearly three and a half kilometres straight up into the sky, way higher than anything we’ve ever climbed before! The route goes up through amazing Alpine scenery, past mountain lakes and rocky ridges. We're both a tiny bit nervous, but mostly we are SO excited!

We have decided to do this to raise money for Engera (www.engerauk.com) a brilliant charity that helps children and women in Ethiopia, in Eastern Africa, get the healthcare they need. Engera has built and supports health clinics that look after more than 143,000 people in some of Ethiopia's rural areas where there are very few other options: they make sure children get their vaccinations, they help mums have safe pregnancies, they organise periodic clinics and train local nurses and midwives. Our sister was very lucky and quickly got the best help that saved her; but others don't have the same luck, and we think every child deserves to be healthy and have access to good care, wherever they live in the world.
