Team Bob Willis Fund's Half Marathon

Katie Willis

Bob Willis was my Dad. He died in 2019 of prostate cancer at the age of 70 and I miss him. A LOT. When he died, we were keen to help fight this terrible disease and as he was an ex-England cricket captain and Sky Sports Broadcaster, we saw an opportunity to reach out to members of the sporting community.

The Bob Willis Fund was set up to raise money for prostate cancer research and awareness, with the aim of achieving a national screening programme. Over the last 3 years, we have had overwhelming support from the public, many of whom have taken on various challenges to raise money for this important cause.

Now it’s our turn…

On Sunday 8th October, Team Bob Willis Fund (Katie, Rach, Charlie, Laura, Ross and Nicola) will be attempting to run The Royal Parks Half Marathon.

While nothing will bring him back - no more pub lunches, picnics in the park or singing at the top of our lungs together - it helps knowing we are making a difference to other families. We hope more grandchildren can play cricket in the garden with their “Grumps”.

Any support is very much appreciated, but even more importantly, please encourage your Dads, Grandads, husbands, brothers and friends to go and get their prostate checked.

Early diagnosis really is the key with this horrid disease.

Thank you,
Katie & Team Bob Willis Fund xxx
