Jerry's Essex to Dublin Charity Cycle

I have always loved cycling. So, to mark my 50 years in veterinary practice I decided to take on a personal challenge and see if I could cycle from my clinic in Great Dunmow to my old Vet School in Dublin, via Holyhead in Anglesey, approximately 320 miles away.
Along the way, I also wanted to try doing some good by raising much needed sponsorship funds for three excellent and very deserving charities: Vetlife, our VetPartners charity of the year, who provide very valuable mental health counselling and support services to our veterinary community in the UK and Ireland; the Herts & Essex Air Ambulance Service who do such incredible work and have saved so many lives, while being entirely privately funded; and finally, Unicef UK, the UN children’s emergency relief fund which is needed more today than ever before, with so many children caught up in horrific war zones around the world.
I’ve been training for this 320 mile cycle since November but I know the challenge will push me to the limit. In my favour, I'll be riding my E-bike which certainly makes hill climbing a good deal easier. However, I will be carrying a heavy load and cycling with two fairly battered knees. I'm also 73 years old and it is a long journey! I hope to do the trip over 4 days, starting from our Marks Farm Vet Clinic on Saturday 20th June… so, follow Moloney Vet Clinics on Facebook and let’s see how we get on!
Any help you can give by way of sponsorship will be extremely gratefully received so let’s raise as much money as we can for Vetlife, Essex Air Ambulance and Unicef. Thank you all for your support!
