The Big Boob and Bark Walk

👉   20 miles a day. 4 consecutive days.
Visiting every ERC cottage in Norfolk – all to help dogs doing great things and their owners coping with breast cancer.

Over 4 back-to-back days this May, Sue is taking on a big (and fun!) challenge – visiting every single one of our ERC dog-welcoming holiday cottages here in Norfolk. That's 20 miles a day, for 4 days, one after the other. With dogs of course!

The goal? Aiming to raise £1000/day - that's £50 mile!

Why? Because we’re raising money for two incredible causes that are closely connected in a powerful way.

Most of our guests are women and dog lovers, and while breast cancer can affect anyone (men included), it remains one of the most common cancers affecting women. That’s where this challenge really comes together.

We’re doing this walk to support Medical Detection Dogs, who train incredible dogs to assist people with complex health conditions. From alerting their owners to life-threatening medical episodes, to providing vital day-to-day support, these dogs quite literally change and, in many cases, save lives.

If you follow us, you’ll know we already love working with them at Crufts to help raise awareness of the work they do. The fact that we love dogs and they love dogs is what bonds us – but dogs supporting people in such life-changing ways? That’s something truly special.

Their work centres around health, care, and giving people back a sense of independence and safety, which brings us to our second charity.

We’re also raising funds for Little Lifts: a small but mighty charity based in Norfolk that provides thoughtfully curated gift boxes to support people through the physical and emotional side effects of breast cancer treatment across the UK.

One of our owners has recently been through breast cancer treatment, and Little Lifts made such a difference to her during that time. It really was what planted the seed of this whole fundraising idea.

So this challenge brings it all together – rooted in care, and of course, dogs all while showing you around the fabulous area where you can come on holiday with your own.

Over 4 days, we’ll visit every ERC location step by step, a bit of pedalling and a train ride too!.

It’s going to be tough, tiring, and probably involve a fair few blisters… but it’s nothing compared to what so many people face every day. Owner of ERC, Sue, will do all of it and will be joined by guests, owners and more over parts of the 4 days.

If you can, please donate, share, or cheer us on. Every contribution helps support earlier detection, better care, and a bit more comfort when it’s needed most.
