Marathon Eryri (Snowdonia Marathon)
1489
Matt Graham
One in two of us will be affected by dementia, either caring for a loved one, or developing it ourselves.
Over a million people in the UK will be living with dementia by 2030.
Over half of the UK knows someone with dementia.
Over the past few years as a chaplain with Tranmere Rovers Football Club, I've had the privilege of getting to know some amazing people who care for a husband, wife or parent, living with dementia, and those diagnosed themselves. I've also seen the impact of two groups in particular, who provide brilliant care and support to these people.
On Saturday 28th October 2023, I'm going to run the Eryri Marathon, 26.2 miles around, and up (800+ metres!) and down the roads of Snowdonia. I'm aiming to raise funds to enable Dementia Together Wirral, and Tranmere Rovers in the Community to keep on providing invaluable love and care to dementia sufferers and their families.
If you can give a bit, no doubt it will help me get around the course, and all goes to support this great cause.
Thanks so much!

Tranmere Rovers in the Community was established as a one-man team by Steve Williams in the late 1980s – initially focusing on the use of football and other ancillary sporting activities as educational tools. Since then, the community department has developed into a registered charity in its own right and now engages with thousands of people across the Wirral peninsula and beyond each year.

At Dementia Together Wirral, we understand the social isolation felt by those living with dementia. Since our formation, in 2017, it’s been our mission to bring people affected by dementia together, to enjoy friendship and community. Our dedicated volunteers host a variety of dementia-friendly events: memory cafés, music groups, walking groups, crafts and games groups, day trips and more.
Last few hills tonight.
Over 1000Km in training.
5 days to go.... time for some pasta.
Thanks for all the donations and support!

Last but one long run today.
Went to North Wales to get some good sustained elevation in the legs. So beautiful!!
Starting to feel a bit real, eek!
Thanks for the donations, they’re a great spur to keep the miles and hills ticking over.
