From July 23rd to July 26th, I will be attempting to run 4 marathons in 4 days. This is to raise money for three charities: ALK+ UK; Blythe House Hospice, and the Teenage Cancer Trust. Just before Christmas my mum was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer for which there is currently no cure. In the new year a close family friend was also diagnosed with cancer, at the age of just 19. I have put this challenge together to try and give something back to those who have helped us all. ALK+ UK’s aim is that people with ALK-positive lung cancer in the UK will thrive and live a long and fulfilling life unhindered by their disease. My mum is one of the 3% of those with lung cancer who have the ALK+ mutation. Blythe House Hospice provides a range of free, tailored care and support to patients and their families affected by cancer across Derbyshire. My mum and her husband, have both benefited from the services they offer. The Teenage Cancer Trust offers unique care and support, designed for and with young people. They fund specialised nurses, youth workers and hospital units in the NHS.
I am running from where I live (Buxton, Derbyshire) to Withernsea (East Riding of Yorkshire), where my mum was born. This is 104 miles so conveniently, it will be split into 4 marathons across 4 days. Details of the run and provisional routes: Day 1 - Thur 23rd July. Buxton to Sheffield
Day 2 - Fri 24th July. Sheffield to Stainforth
Day 3 - Sat 25th July. Thorne to Barton upon Humber
Day 4 - Sun 26th July. Barton upon Humber to Withernsea
Get in touch for the actual routes as i am unable to attach the links.
This is a massive challenge, and I hope the funds raised can go some way to help all of those affected by cancer. Thank you for taking time to read this and any donations or offers of support will be greatly appreciated. If anyone would like to run any legs with me, for as little or as much as you want, that would also be greatly appreciated. Get in touch if you’d like to help out.

ALK-positive lung cancer is a relatively rare form of lung cancer caused by the abnormal rearrangement of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase gene. The vast majority of patients are non-smokers, half are under 50 years of age when diagnosed (some are much younger), and the majority are female. Most patients are diagnosed at Stage 4.
