Kathryn Wells Fundraiser!!!!

This page is first and foremost in memory of Kathryn — our wonderful mother, and a cherished wife to Kit.

Above all, Mum was a loving, caring person who brought joy and friendship to everyone who knew her. In reflection of that, we want to support those who helped her. First and foremost, she was cared for by the oncology team on the Woolverstone Ward at Ipswich Hospital, supported by Macmillan, and we wish to recognise the vital role they played in looking after her.

In her last few days, Mum was brilliantly cared for by the staff at St Elizabeth’s Hospice, who made her time there comfortable and peaceful. We were so grateful for the care they showed and will always remain grateful for what they did. We are very conscious of how great their need for support is, and we want to help in any way we can.

The third charity we are supporting is The Astro Brain Charity, for two important reasons. Firstly, Mum developed brain tumours during her illness and was looked after by the neurology team at Addenbrookes. But also, very close to her heart was the fact that both her nephew, Archie Goodburn, and her sister, Trish Gordon, are being treated for very rare types of brain tumours, and The Astro Brain Charity is supporting research into these.

We would be delighted if anyone would like to support these wonderful charities in memory of Kathryn.

However, it does not stop there.

In 2026, I plan to carry out a number of fundraising activities for these charities. Over the course of the year, I will be taking part in four marathons — Barcelona, Paris, Edinburgh and Amsterdam — starting in March and finishing in October, marking the anniversary of losing Mum.

I, along with a team of friends, will also be taking part in the Leeds Endure 24 endurance event in June, with additional events happening throughout the year.

Therefore, we will keep this page open for the year as we try to raise funds for these three charities in memory of Kathryn, and in gratitude for everything they did and continue to do for our family.
