Team Jon Over
10653
Team Jon Over has grown into something far bigger than a single event. It is now a decentralised team of friends, family and supporters taking on a wide range of challenges – all with Jon, and all for Jon.
On 26 April, Jon will take in the sights and spirit of the capital as he completes the TCS London Marathon, supported by members of the team running alongside him. Just two weeks later, on 10 May 2026, Jon will line up again at the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon. He will complete the 26.2 miles in a specially modified pushchair, powered by a rotating support crew including Al, Shakey, Barney and Vinny.
But the marathons are only part of the story.
Across the country, and beyond, members of Team Jon Over are stepping up in their own ways – running races, climbing mountains, cycling sportives, and taking on personal endurance challenges. Each event is different. Each effort is individual. But the purpose is shared.
Jon was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in early 2025. MND is a rare and devastating condition that affects the brain and nerves, leading to progressive muscle weakness, slurred speech and difficulty swallowing. It occurs when motor neurones gradually stop working, with life-changing consequences.
As a result, Jon, his wife Marie, and their two girls are facing the heartbreaking reality of adapting their lives and moving from their family home to manage the challenges that come with this disease.
There is currently no cure for MND. But there is community. There is love. And there is action.
Every pound raised by Team Jon Over will go to the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Somerset Village and Community Agents. These funds will directly support the vital work these charities carry out for families facing MND and for vulnerable people in local communities.
Whether you choose to donate, take on a challenge of your own, share the story, or simply leave a message of support – it truly matters.
Thank you for standing with Jon.
